Through PwF, the Heartland Food Bank has likewise received tens of thousands of dollars from the residents of Omaha. PwF further sees it as its responsibility to expose future generations to blues music and learn about this uniquely American art form through the BluesEd Youth Artist Development Program.

2018 Charitable Partner

In celebration of our 15-year collaboration with BluesED Youth Artist Development Program, PwF has selected the organization to support this year by sharing of the freewill donations received during our free concert series.

BluesEd is a non-profit youth artist development program sponsored by Blues Society of Omaha with the mission of “Keeping the Blues Alive.” The BluesEd program was created to provide opportunities for middle school and high school age musicians to play with other students in a performance band format. Through series of workshops, the students learn a repertoire of blues music, along with learning the art of improvisation and solos, the methodology of rehearsals, techniques of jamming, stage presence and performance, and the historical origins of the blues genre.

The Blues Society of Omaha on behalf of the BluesED youth artist program received the prestigious “Keeping the Blues Alive” award this year at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee. Bluesed.com
