Horns, harmonies, and homegrown instruments combined with an energetic and roots-rich festival set makes Ghost Town Blues Band (GTBB) one of the must-see live bands. “Not your grandpa’s blues band,” GTBB, just won the 2021 Maple Blues Award’s B.B. King Entertainer of the Year. The band’s latest release Shine debuted at #1 on the 2019 Billboard Blues Chart. Their list of honors and awards for the last few years is too long to list here! Recently headlining the blues stage at The Montreal Jazz Festival, GBBT is Beale Street’s latest success story, 5-time Blues Blast Music Award Nominee, and International Blues Challenge Runner-up. “The Clinicians” came together as a group of five Omaha-based professional musicians selected to be advisor-mentors to the BluesEd program sponsored by the Blues Society of Omaha. For over twenty years, top players in the area have lent an ear and a helping hand to the youth of the city who have shown an interest in performing blues music. During this time, hundreds of young musicians have benefitted from the counsel and experience of these journeymen.
At the request of the BluesEd directors, this group of musician-advisors (Hector Anchondo, Bucky McCann, Glen Smith, Carlos Figueroa, and Craig Balderston) performed on stage to cap off the 2022 student showcase event with jams of their own for the students to enjoy. The result is a coming together of a real band of brothers.

This Omaha-based, blues/rock original band battled as a 2020 finalist in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. A regional favorite, the band was nominated for the third time in the 2020 OEA award for Best Blues, after being nominated in 2018 and winning that same award in 2017. The band draws its fresh, retro sound from a variety of sources. Straight-up rock and roll, blues, and gospel all play heavily in their gutsy roots-rock style. The band’s firepower lies with the original songwriting and unique vocals of Sarah along with Sarah/Rex guitar chemistry.
